The uprising at the Marion Correctional Institution was splashed all over the pages of the local newspaper, The Marion Star, on Aug. 23, 1966. Photos showed the imposing scene of Patrolmen from all over the state surrounding inmates, guarding them with their 12-gauge shotguns.
