
Kenneth
B. Marshall was promoted to the rank of colonel and sworn in as the Highway
Patrol’s 12th superintendent by Ohio Supreme Court Justice Thomas Moyer on
February 28, 1997.
Colonel Marshall joined the Highway Patrol in September 1969 as a member of the 84th Academy Class and received his Patrol commission the following December. As a trooper, he served six years at Warren, including two years as Warren District investigator. He received his promotion to sergeant in December 1975, serving as assistant commander of the Warren Post until transferring to Sandusky in the same capacity in June 1979.
Colonel Marshall received his first command assignment in April 1981 when he was elevated to lieutenant and assigned to Piqua as post commander. He transferred to Massillon in August 1983, and served as Massillon post commander until receiving his promotion to staff lieutenant and assignment to Berea as assistant commander of the Ohio Turnpike district. Promoted to captain in June 1990, Colonel Marshall transferred to Columbus in the Office of Field Operations at Patrol General Headquarters. He received his promotion to major in January 1994, and to lieutenant colonel in September 1994.
A Salem native, Colonel Marshall graduated from Salem High School in 1964. Prior to joining the Patrol, Colonel Marshall served four years in the U. S. Navy, where he earned the Vietnam Service and Campaign medals, the Presidential Unit Citation, and the National Defense medal prior to his 1969 discharge. Since joining the Patrol, he studied advanced police management at the Northwestern University Traffic Institute.
