As part of the Division’s long-standing affiliation with the American Legion, Patrol officers participated in Buckeye Boys and Girls State last summer to provide students entering their senior year of high school a hands-on experience in the operation of the democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Ohio government.

The 2009 programs were held June 13–21, with the boys’ program at Bowling Green State University and the girls’ program at Ashland University.

This year’s Buckeye Boys State Highway Patrol was led by Jacob D. Landis, son of S/Lt. Brian Landis and former Dispatcher Sherena Landis. While it was a lot of intense work, Jacob was proud to serve as Colonel at Buckeye Boys State. Jacob is also the grandson of Retired Captain Roger Landis.
