Sergeant Shearer to serve as Patrol spokesperson

COLUMBUS – Sgt. Lance S. Shearer, of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marion Post has transferred to the Public Affairs Unit as part of a 90-day program where he will temporarily serve as a spokesperson for the Patrol. He serves as assistant post commander at the Marion Post.

Sgt. Shearer joined the Patrol in May 1997 as a member of the 129th Academy Class. He received his commission that November and was assigned to the Delaware Post, where he received Columbus District Trooper of the Year and Delaware Post Trooper of the Year honors in 2002, Criminal Patrol Awards in 2003 and 2002, Ace Awards for excellence in auto larceny enforcement in 2002 and 2001, and Certificates of Recognition in 2001 and 2000.

In April 2003, Sgt. Shearer was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Mansfield Post to serve as assistant post commander. He transferred to his current post at Marion in September 2003, where he received Certificates of Recognition in 2004 and 2005.

Sgt. Shearer resides in Delaware with his wife, Sarah, and their four children: Garrett, Kelsey, Gavin, and Megan.
