Patrol assisting Toledo Police Department following civil unrest

COLUMBUS - At the request of the City of Toledo, at 5:00 p.m. Governor Bob Taft authorized the Ohio State Highway Patrol to support and assist the Toledo Police Department due to civil urest in Toledo today.

The Patrol is sending member of the Division's Special Response Team and additional troopers to the area. The Patrol's command vehicle is also being sent to the area to assist with logistical coordination.

Pilots from the Patrol's Aviation Unit have been monitoring the situations throughout the day, and will continue to provide aerial assistance.
