CHILLICOTHE– John Parsons, a 35 year old male from Frankfort Ohio, who was arrested and charged with aggravated murder in the April 2005 shooting of Officer Larry R. Cox, escaped from the Ross County Jail on July 29, and was apprehended today in south-eastern Chillicothe.
Officials say the task force in cooperation with the emergency response team acted on a tip that led them to apprehend Parsons today at approximately 12:40 p.m. Parsons was found in a cabin behind a lumber company on Eastern Avenue in Chillicothe. After searching the cabin Parsons was found lying on the floor and was taken into custody without incident.
The task force included the Ross County Sheriff’s Office, Chillicothe Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, U.S. Marshal’s Office, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and Indiana Department of Corrections.
Parsons was transported briefly to the Ross County Corrections Facility and is currently being held at a State Corrections Facility.
