Patrol continues investigation of plane crash in Bucyrus

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues the investigation into a fatal airplane crash that occurred at approximately at 7:09 p.m. December 17, in Bucyrus. The single-engine plane crashed into a field southwest of the Indian Creek apartment complex, 1779 Whetstone Road. Debris from the crash caused minor damage to the complex. There were no reported injuries on the ground.

Preliminary investigation has identified the occupants of the plane as Paul Martin, 49, Lillian Martin, 45, and their children Kitanna Martin, 10, and Shawn Martin, 11, from Austin, Texas. All four victims were killed at impact.

The Martins had been visiting relatives in Oklahoma and were flying to Searsmont, Maine where they owned a property.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and will be at the crash site today.

The Patrol’s investigation is on-going.
