Visitor at Lorain Correctional arrested for illegal drug conveyance

ELYRIA – A Chester, West Virginia, woman is scheduled to appear in Elyria Municipal Court tomorrow on a felony charge after troopers arrested her this morning for attempting to convey narcotics into the Lorain Correctional Institution.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers charged Amy Desimone, 36, with attempting to convey drugs onto the grounds of a detention facility, a third-degree felony.

Department of Rehabilitation and Correction investigators along with state troopers gathered information and determined Desimone was actively involved in conveying drugs into Lorain Correctional Institution. Desimone was confronted as she entered the facility, and subsequently turned over two balloons containing marijuana and one balloon containing 10 pills.

Desimone was incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail. If convicted, she could face five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigates criminal activity on state owned and leased property.
