Public’s assistance sought on escaped rape suspect

CINCINNATI – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s assistance in locating an escaped rape inmate, who escaped from the Summit Behavioral Center in Cincinnati last night.

Patrol investigators said Juan Romero Barahora was originally incarcerated at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office jail on a first-degree felony rape charge. On August 29, following an attempted suicide while in the jail, Barahora was transported and admitted for an evaluation to the Summit Behavioral Center located at 1101 Summit Road in Cincinnati.

At approximately 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Romero climbed a wall and escaped the facility.

Barahora is a Hispanic male, 5’06, weighing 139 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. Barahora has tattoos on both arms and one on his left shoulder, "GLADIS." He has no social security number and is believed to be an illegal alien of unknown nationality. His last known address was 27 Covington Road in Hamilton, Ohio.

Barahora should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding Barahora should contact the Lt. Doug McKinney of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Cincinnati Operations at (513) 383-1700.
