Sergeant Smith to serve as Patrol spokesperson

COLUMBUS- Sergeant Carlos Smith of the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Medina Post has transferred to the Public Affairs Unit as part of a 90-day program, in which he will temporarily serve as a spokesperson for the Patrol.

Sgt. Smith joined the Patrol in April 1998 as a member of the 131st Academy Class. He was commissioned that October and assigned to the Jackson Post. In March 2000 he transferred to the Massillon Post.

He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in October 2005 and transferred to the Wilmington Post to serve as an assistant post commander. He transferred to his current assignment at the Medina Post in June 2006.

Originally of Canton, Sgt. Smith currently resides in Massillon with his wife, Carrie, and their four children.
