Patrol seizes 36 pounds of hydroponic marijuana and other contraband in Preble County

EATON – A man from New Hampshire is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 36 pounds of hydroponic marijuana, 19.2 grams of hashish, Suboxone strips and three miscellaneous pills, with a value of  approximately $180,000, following a traffic stop in Preble County.

Troopers stopped a 1997 Chevrolet 3500 van for a moving violation on Interstate 70, near milepost 8, at approximately 11:45 a.m. on March 13. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 36 pounds of hydroponic marijuana and other contraband.

The driver, Dennis Finn, 64, of Newfields, N. H., was charged with possession of marijuana, a third-degree felony, and possession of a scheduled II substance, possession of hashish and possession of criminal tools, all fifth-degree felonies. Finn was also charged with possession of a schedule IV substance and possession of a schedule III substance, both misdemeanor charges.

Finn was incarcerated in the Preble County Jail. If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison and up to a $17,500 fine.
