Troopers seize 15 pounds of Marijuana in Hocking County

ATHENS – A Columbus man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 15 pounds of marijuana, worth an estimated $34,000 following a traffic stop in Hocking County.

Troopers stopped a 2012 Dodge Charger, with Illinois registration, for a speed violation on U.S. 33, near milepost 14, at 8:36 p.m. yesterday.  Troopers observed criminal indicators and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 15 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

Michael Hills, 32, was incarcerated in the Athens County Regional Jail and charged with trafficking in marijuana, a third-degree felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
