Vehicle theft operation results in arrest, pending charges

WILLARD – A joint vehicle theft operation conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Willard Police Department on August 16, 2014 resulted in the arrest of one individual and pending charges on several other subjects. The arrested individual is Eddie D Tackett Jr, 24, of Willard Ohio.  Mr. Tackett was charged by the Willard Police Department with theft of a motor vehicle, a felony of the 4th degree, and is awaiting court proceedings at this time.

The operation began with the recovery of a 2004 Chevy Colorado pickup truck from a private residence in Mansfield, Ohio, that was stolen from Willard, Ohio.  At the location in Mansfield, six other subjects were taken into custody but have not been charged at this time.  The investigation from Mansfield revealed another location where other stolen vehicles had allegedly been taken in Jeromesville, Ohio.  An address there was searched with the assistance of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office. From that location, 21 entered stolen vehicles were recovered as well as four vehicles suspected of being stolen.  At this time no one has been criminally charged from the Jeromesville location.  The investigation is ongoing.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Willard Police Department were assisted by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office and the Huron, Richland and Ashland County Prosecutor’s Offices.
