Troopers seize 234 pounds of hydroponic marijuana in Summit County

Marijuana

HUDSON – A man and a woman are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 234 pounds of hydroponic marijuana, worth approximately $1,170,000 following a traffic stop in Summit County.

Troopers stopped a 2010 Ford Taurus, with Nebraska registration, for a marked lane violation on the Ohio Turnpike, near milepost 185, at 2:31 p.m. on December 17. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.

The driver, Terrance G. Hays, 63, of Leadville, Colo., and passenger, Beth L. Devine, 62, of Pittman, N. J., were incarcerated in the Summit County Jail, and charged with trafficking in marijuana, a second-degree felony.

If convicted, each could face up to 8 years in prison and up to a $15,000 fine.

A photo of the seized contraband is available for download on the Patrol’s website at www.statepatrol.ohio.gov
