Troopers seize 123 pounds of marijuana in Madison County traffic stop

Marijuana

WEST JEFFERSON – Two men are facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 123 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $615,000 following a traffic stop in Madison County.

Troopers stopped a 2014 Subaru Station Wagon, with Colorado registration, for a following too closely violation on Interstate 70, near milepost 72, at 9:26 a.m., on January 13. Criminal indicators were observed and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.

The driver, Kelly Harding, 47, and passenger, Craig Voigt, 46, both from Carbondale, Colo., were incarcerated in the Multi-County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, both second-degree felonies.

If convicted, each could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.

A photo of the seized contraband is available for download on the Patrol’s website at www.statepatrol.ohio.gov.
