Patrol Training Academy
The
Academy Commandant attends staff meetings and seminars on state and district
levels and represents the Division at the State and Provincial Police Academy
Director’s Association conferences and other recognized training associations.
The Academy is also responsible to direct and administer the policing of the Ohio State Fair and other Ohio Expositions Center details as directed by the Superintendent.
Academy Health and Fitness – This unit’s duties include oversight of the testing and appraisals for recruit applicants and incumbents. The academy physician and attending nurse also administer physical examinations including an overall wellness examination, sight and hearing tests, cardiovascular fitness, and laboratory analysis of blood and urine. The nurse and physician assess officers who report to daily sick call and issue medication or recommend treatments and follow-up visits. The Health and Fitness Unit staff is also available for the initial assessment of minor injuries received by students during the course of their training.
