The Ohio State Highway Patrol insignia/logo is a registered trademark/servicemark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The flying wheel symbol, when used in conjunction with any combinations of the words Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Badge are protected under U.S. trademark laws. Any use of the OSHP logo/emblem except those uses outlined in the Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, and OSHP Rules & Regulations, policies and procedures, must be licensed.

The Patrol name and identifying symbol are managed through the Trademark Licensing Program that provides protection of the Patrol’s name and image. A major component of the licensing program includes products, services, films, videos, etc., utilizing the Patrol name and registered mark.

The purpose of this Web site is to explain the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Trademark Licensing Program and to outline the procedures for implementing a comprehensive design system that will effectively build maximum recognition and awareness of the Ohio State Highway Patrol trademark.
